NERJA: LOTS TO SEE AND DO
Discovered by Muslims and called "Narija", the town was later surrendered to the Catholic Monarchs in the 16th Century, via the French. It is this mix of cultures that offers the rich, historic heritage we continue to enjoy today. Highlights include the Caves of Nerja, the Pago del Castillo fortress, the Parroquia del Salvador (a church), the Nuestra Señora de las Angustias shrine and the Balcon de Europa (Balcony of Europe). We should also mention Chanquete's ship from the famous "Verano Azul" series which afforded Nerja a level of fame due to its characters, stunning landscape and the friendly nature of its inhabitants.
